The Gift Of Barware

Whether you're giving or receiving, barware is a great gift.

Barware is both practical and decorative. The bottle opener that you use to open all those beer bottles can really define the theme or look of your bar.

If you have a home bar, then you probably get lots of barware gifts. Since barware has gotten so popular and plentiful in recent years, the availabiltiy and price of most new barware makes it an ideal gift.

I'm sure a lot of the barware gifts you've received have ended up in a drawer somewhere. After all, how many wine openers do you really need? But how can you let people know the types of barware you really want?

Try to communicate the idea of your bar's theme to those people which might be giving you barware gifts in the future. Make it a point to say something like "I really like the Caribbean Island theme and I'm always looking for things for my bar". This will stick with people and they will remember that when looking for gifts for you.

Most home bars have serious space limitations. How do choose a gift of barware that will be really be appreciated and not end up in a yard sale?

When giving barwar as a gift, try to contribute to whatever theme has already been established in the bar. Is the bar in a formal setting like a dining room? If so, a set of tiki glasses will probably not be appropriate. Is the bar sports-themed? Then an antique crystal decanter is not the right gift.

The idea is to match a barware gift to the established theme of a bar. Go with what will be appreciated AND get used.

If you're still unsure as to what type of barware to give, just think of the interests of whom you're giving the gift and type that into the search box on eBay or any other bar supply website. For example...if the gift recipient vacations to Cape Cod every year, then try searching for "Cape Cod barware". Searches like that should result in plenty of good barware gift ideas.
